Dear Sweet Cheeks,
I want you to know this very important information so you can plan ahead for your month of September!
This September is being renamed Nicole Holoftember for the Ms. Wonderful Film Club.
What does that mean?
It means that I, Ms. Wonderful, am weird and wacky and woo-ey. I like to make up new words.
It also means that I am finally highlighting my favorite director, Nicole Holofcener, on the blog and podcast. She is the reason I started the podcast anyway.
I am not even going to say Nicole Holofcener is “my favorite woman film director” because regardless of her gender pronouns, she is a writer and director I hold super dearly. Her movies vibrate with me, and I love the nuances of conversation and relationship that she explores in these subtle explorations of money, class, friendship, family, romance, and even philanthropy.
No one does it like Nicole Holofcener does it, so that’s why she gets a month renamed after her. How is your Holoftember going so far? I hope you have a great Holoftember!
Just to try to forget this new special word I made! I bet you can’t!
First, though, try to say it. Hol—uff—tember.
Practice.
If you’re getting as excited as I am, you can read my writing about a couple of Nicole Holofcener films here:
The Lucky Charm of Holywood (Film: Lovely and Amazing)
Pink Friends (Film: Friends with Money)
And if you want to watch any of Nicole Holofcener’s films so you can easily connect with the Ms. W podcasts this month, start by checking out these first two we’ll be discussing.
